In this “brave and heartbreaking novel that digs its claws into you and doesn’t let go, long after you’ve finished it” (Anna Todd, New York Times bestselling author) from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of All Your Perfects, a workaholic with a too-good-to-be-true romance can’t stop thinking about her first love.

Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. And when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life seems too good to be true.

Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.

As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan—her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

An honest, evocative, and tender novel, It Ends with Us is “a glorious and touching read, a forever keeper. The kind of book that gets handed down” (USA TODAY).

This was such a disappointing read. I blazed through it because the writing was so juvenile and lacked depth that I could skip 25 pages and still know exactly what was going on. The overall idea and theme of the book had so much potential that I’m disappointed it was such a flop. Every relationship lacks meaning in this story. If you’re a fan of real, thought-provoking literature, this book is not for you.

Before purchasing this book, I’ve read some reviews that people wrote and one thing I noticed was that this book brought a lot of different emotions out in the readers. I can’t emphasize how true that felt for me! I felt happy, in love, angry, sad, confused, scared and any other emotion you can think of! it was an emotional roller coaster and I’ve loved every second of it. Could not stop reading it, took 2 nights and I stayed up till 6am to finish it because it was impossible to stop. I don’t normally take the time to write a review, I just rate it by stars and leave it at that. It’s 6am (after a whole night of reading) and I HAD to write this review right now because this book deserves it. Amazing author, incredible book! READ IT.

TW: abuse and r*pe I had high hopes, but It Ends With Us was like fanfic trying to add nuance to the delicate subject of domestic abuse. I get the message: abusive relationships are complicated and society often shames women who stay rather than the abusers. But the relationship was so shallow (it felt like Wattpad) that I struggled to empathize with her reasons to stay. Regardless, I still would’ve given 3 stars had the ending not ABSOLUTELY BUTCHERED THE THEME. The ending contradicts the main idea (victim-blaming logic) and essentially let’s the abuser off the hook in this icky happily ever after situation. It was so tone-deaf in the context of the story. Also for anyone wanting to read because of BookTok, you might be disappointed by Atlas’s scenes. Compared to the abuser, he’s a saint, but he barely did anything. SUCH a disappointing and sickening read.
